ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS
Current activities include a variety of patriotic works such as cleaning cemeteries and placing flags on veterans' graves. Members participate in Memorial Day and Remembrance Day programming, and work with the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Sons of Veterans Reserve to bring such programs and thanks to veterans in nursing homes, senior housing and adult daycare. Each veteran receives a lap throw and a thank you card at the conclusion of the program. Additionally, members arrange Civil War related programs which are open to the public.
Charitable works include collecting yarn and making lap throws for veterans, monthly food collection for area food pantries, collecting Labels for Education and Boxtops for Education for schools, donating toiletries to women's shelters, clipping food coupons for military families, and many other personal charitable activities as well.
